Biofuel trigeneration with energy storage for heating, cooling and power on farms

The drive towards net-zero carbon emissions has prompted many industries to alter the way they operate. agriculture industry is responsible for a large proportion of UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, feasibility implementing an anaerobic digestion (AD) system supplying biogas trigeneration with energy storage provision heating, cooling and power been investigated in context medium-scale arable farm. Two configurations – one supplied wheat straw only, other straw, barley manure were identified meet demands Technical was via simulations run ECLIPSE, two returning overall efficiencies 66.8% 67.1%, respectively. Economic analyses indicated simple payback periods 9.4 11 years, which fall within expected 20-year lifetime project. Furthermore, potential reduction CO2 each scenario determined be 42,764 kg 43,956 per year.
